The deadline for comments on the proposal to outsource rules development and regulation from PHMSA to the NBIC and ASME has been extended to May 23rd from its original March 23rd deadline. The regulations for both organizations are also available for review. At first glance, the regulation would require Registered Inspectors to purchase new expensive regulation books and enroll in online training, but this is open to changes in an often closed door discussion of rules, fees, and demands.
