Polar receives lean approval

As we reported here first, Polar had asked US DOT for a special permit to use duplex stainless steel materials in an application earlier this year. Now it looks like they have received approval to use the material per a PHMSA special permit document. These materials are not normally authorized in for DOT400 series tanks in 178.345-2 materials of construction but Brenner had been given authority to use similar materials for their Lean Duplex product trailers.
